During WWII, British pillboxes were fortified concrete structures built as part of the United Kingdom's defensive strategy against potential invasion. Scattered across the countryside, along coastlines, and near key strategic points, these bunkers were designed to house machine guns and small arms. With walls up to three feet thick, they offered substantial protection against enemy fire and were often camouflaged to blend into their surroundings. Today, many of these pillboxes still stand, silent reminders of the island's resilience and preparedness during the war.
